Who We Are
Robert Borden, our Team Leader
The last 20 years of Bob's professional life were spent in the industrial and specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution industry. He retired from Thatcher Chemical Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a Product Line Manager of photographic processing solutions. In 1992, Bob saw an opportunity to create a new product line for processing medical radiology film. Starting from nothing more than production capacity and zero sales, he built the product line from just an idea, to a business segment with national distribution exceeding $10 million in annual sales.
As Product Manager, he had total P&L responsibility for the business line. In addition to all sales and marketing activities, his responsibilities included oversight of material procurement, product manufacturing, packaging, warehousing and distribution. Bob also oversaw the construction of a manufacturing plant in Williamson, New York, to handle the production and distribution of specialty industrial chemical products for Eastern U. S. distribution. This project included the procurement of real estate, installation of reactors and mixers, packaging equipment, warehousing and material handling equipment and front office set up. After the plant was completed, Bob was the key intermediary between the Williamson plant and the home office in Salt Lake City.
In building the Photo Processing Product Line, Bob's sales activities included sales to all types of organizations from small Mom and Pop operations, intermediate distributors, and end users to large corporate accounts, including long term, multimillion dollar private label contracts with Fortune 100 companies. Bob has been successful in selling in all sales conditions, from the small back room to the board rooms of some of the largest corporations in America.
Bob retired at age 59 to serve a mission with his wife in Thailand for their church, overseeing the Church's Humanitarian Services. Upon their return they built a new log home in Marion, Utah. Bob has come out of retirement to establish his new Independent Manufacturers Representative Agency, R.H. BORDEN AND COMPANY.
